Leuven Gallery
Leuven - June 2011
Leuven was a stunning location for a meeting, a pretty Medieval town with the typical cobbled streets Europe, and in particular Belgium, is famous for. Our venue was impressive, and the food and drink even more so as the images below will hopefully demonstrate.

Our venue for the conference showing the cobbles - appreciated by all those not wearing heels!

Conference venue again with more cobbles

Chicken or pork - the debate rumbles on, but it was jolly tasty whichever ;)

A beer named 'Sudden Death' - the champagne of beers apparently, so strong it needs capping with a wired on cork.
We can confirm it was an acquired taste that only a few were brave enough to sample!

A typical Leuven street, where stunning architecture seems to be just around every corner

Leuven town hall, looks very Medieval but the guide spoilt it by informing us most of the figures were recarved in the 1970s
since the limestone the originals were carved in had eroded

Each figure was a different character from Belgian history, most of whom were apparently Mayor of Leuven at some point

Sitting for sculptures could go on for quite a while - thank goodness for photography portraiture!

Yes, it really is a giant fly, stuck on a giant needle, in the middle of a cobbled square! Isn't modern art great....
